It’s not always about what you’re doing, it’s about why you’re doing it.
It’s not always about what you’re doing, it’s about why you’re doing it!
Everyone thought David was being a bit ambitious when he wanted to completely renovate 3000 5th ave and open a new San Diego hair studio in February. With some hard work, determination and help from key people involved, that ambitious goal is coming to fruition.
Why are we building out this space? We’ve gone rogue from the standard salon (an establishment where a hairdresser, beautician or couturier conducts business). We are building a studio (place where an artist works, a place where people go to learn, practice, or study an art). We are creating a space that reflects who we are, what we do and most importantly, why we do it. We are not interested in merely “conducting business” we are always seeking, “the connections and relationships built by those magical moments in transforming how a person feels” – Tina Valencia and “making a difference in people from the way they look to how they feel.” –David Valencia
Why the name V Collective? V for Valencia and Collective because it’s all about individuals coming together. There is more to the local movement than just food. From David’s experiences of his circus days traveling around the world and Tina’s grounded knowledge of San Diego as a 3rd generation local, collectively they feel a great sense of appreciation and responsibility for their community. With that sense of appreciation and responsibility, they have selectively partnered with individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations to create their new hair studio.
