“This year has been monumental for our industry and Luxury Brand Partners – our portfolio of high-quality products continues to develop, our groundbreaking education events are inspiring stylists world-wide and our network of partner salons is expanding to include the best of the best in the business. While we keep pushing to elevate our industry, we invite you to join the mission so we can raise the bar together.
We challenge you – as stylists, colorists and salon owners – to up the ante and leave mediocrity behind.” Tev Finger, president LBP
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! We are proud to have joined that mission and we are grateful to our loyal clients who continue to support us through this process of growth and change. This month, we are looking forward to attending LBP front row in Miami, the 4-day hair festival of “epic proportions” and can’t wait to translate our experience to your hair experience.
Reflecting on 2015, you could say we definitely went out with a bang! Selling dk hair was abrupt (our sincere apologies) and starting V Collective has taken off at lightening speed. Along this fast and furious journey we have rediscovered our passion for our craft of hairdressing. Goldwell has gone above and beyond our expectations for a color line and the experience of “painting” hair to match our haircuts has been rewarding. One stylist, one vision, perfect execution! We’re also having so much fun experimenting with Oribe products, especially the range and performance of the curl line.
As the dust is settling at our pop-up location downtown and the dust is kicking up in our permanent location in Bankers Hill, follow us on facebook for the latest updates and events and instagram (@V_COLLECTIVE) for hair inspiration. Wishing you all the best in 2016!
David and Tina Valencia

We did it!
After 12 years of starting and growing dk hair, David Valencia has sold his half of the partnership so that he and Tina could follow their passion, align with the leaders in the hair industry and take the craft and commerce of hairdressing to the next level. As part of the Creative Counsel, Tina and David have joined forces with “some of the most forward thinking, rule-bending hairstylists in the business that are a think tank of top editorial and salon stylists and educators.”
What does that mean for our clients?
It means that we are the 1st salon in San Diego to offer you the full portfolio of LBP brands, where you can choose from a range of professional products that support your stylist and your haircare needs rather than mass-market retail chains.
It means that we have researched and tested color lines and have decided to use Goldwell. “Goldwell is an exceptional artisanal color line with a rich educational ethos, very similar to how we see ourselves,” said Daniel Kaner, co-founder and co-president of Oribe Hair Care (LBP). “This alliance gives both brands an artistic edge that integrates cut, color and styling.
It means that we are in the midst of building out a new studio space that reflects innovation designed by Sebastian at www.Factoryhaus.com. Located in Banker’s Hill (where parking is plentiful), it is currently a diamond in the rough, and you will be able to follow the progression from conceptual phases to project completion via this blog.
In the meantime, you will not miss any appointments as we are taking clients at our pop up location at Phenix Salon Suites in the new Vantage Point building on the corner of 10th and A street downtown. Bring $10 for the parking structure provided or coins for metered parking and you will be reimbursed for your parking fee at the completion of your service.
We stand for the Culture of Hairdressing. We invite you to go Rogue with us – we promise your salon experience will never be the same.
